PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh pharmacist has given his wife’s in-laws a Christmas gift that keeps on giving: a Pennsylvania Lottery ticket worth $1 million.

The pharmacist, Fred DePasquale, isn’t identifying his wife’s relatives, but said he gave them a $20 ticket for the special lottery drawing. The million-dollar drawing featured only 625,000 tickets, including five million-dollar winners.

George and Leslie Brock stopped into Dave’s Last Resort & Raw Bar on Friday during a day at the beach. George Brock was about halfway through a dozen clams when he chomped down on something hard — a rare iridescent purple pearl.

WINDBER, Pa. Talk about throwing away money. Piles of old coins worth as much as $200,000 were found in a long-abandoned home, including scores that the owner had apparently thrown down a hole in the wall.

Jeff Bidelman, owner of Rare Collectibles near Johnstown, said he was helping the family clean out the house after the death of the owners, who had not lived there for two decades.
